About
Have you played Steamworld Build? If not, why not? It’s an awesome game! What’s even more awesome is that you can hear this steaming music being played in the game and give it more context!

In the game the player progresses by digging down into mines deep in the earth reaching different layers, each with its own biome. This album is divided up into four parts, each part representing a different biome or layer in the game. The first part, representing the top layer is meant to be more open, soothing and relaxing. Instrumentation here is a blend of acoustic instruments and digital such as strings and other more orchestral elements.
Being a game set in a western theme I’ve tried to capture this in the music as well taking influence from old western tv shows, movies etc.
The tracks in the top layer are short and sweet, meant to break the silence but also give way to it, giving more place to the overall ambiance of the game.
In the deeper layers the music is more rhythmic and gritty, emphasizing the style, different biomes and the monotone worklife of the miners going about executing their chores.
All in all, this album is a diverse journey meant to enhance the art and style of Steamworld Build, trying to stay true to the Steamworld roots but also adding something new and hopefully something exciting to the mix, making it feel unique and fresh.
