AlterMage is a first person metroidvania that combines spell-slinging action with a cerebral exploration experience. As an aspiring mage seeking to learn sorcery, you find yourself upon the shores of a forbidden island fortress. Take up your staff and set out on a journey that will challenge your mind, body, and spirit as you uncover the truth behind the citadel's origin.

Master The Art Of Sorcery

Learn to form spells using combinations of elemental runes to access your entire arsenal of spells at any time, and customize your staff using discovered components to imbue it with new effects. Collect new melee weapons, artifacts, and rare materials that can be used to unlock potent upgrades and further augment your play-style. 

Along the way your spells and abilities will level up and improve naturally as you train them. Increase your jump height the more you jump. Use stealth frequently and become harder to detect. Destroy foes with fireballs to make your fire spells even more powerful.

Find Your Own Path

Within this labyrinth lie many converging passages built to test your resolve. Explore freely in whatever direction you'd like, then use the powers you've found to reach previously inaccessible locations and delve even deeper.

Menacing machines, traps, and puzzles await, but those who dare to venture forth and overcome them will claim new spells and traversal abilities to dominate both the environment and their enemies.

Become a Mage

Elevate your spell casting to the next level by chaining multiple spells together to create powerful combinations. Launch fireballs that conjure bolts of lightning, or summon a shower of rocks that spawn devastating cyclones. You will need every advantage you can get against the onslaught of magic-powered machines that patrol the citadel.

The foes you face will investigate sights and sounds, raise alarms to alert their allies, use suppressing fire, and give no quarter in their hunt for you. Take them head on with your staff and sword, use stealth to set up ambushes, or utilize acrobatics and alternate paths to avoid them altogether. The choice is yours.
