Every card is generated from actual 1948 season statistics. 1948 was the year the integration of the American League accelerated — and the Cleveland Indians were at the center of it. Larry Doby, who had broken the AL color line in 1947, became a key contributor on a championship team. Then in July, owner Bill Veeck signed the legendary Satchel Paige, who at age 42 posted a 6–1 record and a 2.48 ERA down the stretch, becoming the first Black pitcher to appear in a World Series game.
