ViRTUE is an immersive Virtual Reality training application for hand hygiene and infection prevention with visualised germ transmission. In a realistic hospital environment, you complete a simulated patient round and experience the effects of your actions first hand—safely, repeatably, and without risk to real patients.

The Virtual Patient Visit

ViRTUE hand hygiene training takes place in a virtual patient room. You can make mistakes without risk and then analyse them—practising when it is necessary to disinfect your hands to prevent the transmission of germs.

Your actions include greeting patients, taking body temperature, auscultating the heart, and recording measured values. Observe immediately—or review at the end—whether germs have been transmitted during the round.

Easy, Guided Training with an Operator Setup

ViRTUE supports a practical two-person training setup:

• Trainee in VR: one person wears the VR headset and performs the patient round.

• Operator on PC: a second person follows the session on a PC screen, can control the training, and interact with the trainee during the virtual patient visit.
