Primed for electric duty in the 1990s, the Cross-City line in Birmingham has been a bustling and developing commuter staple for decades. From the increase in service on the Redditch branch to the recent addition of Bromsgrove, and the rebuild of University station, the Cross-City line is a principal people mover.

To celebrate almost 3 decades of service, no. 221 was repainted, to the surprise and delight of enthusiasts, staff, and rescued bears alike, into the “Centro” variant of the Regional Railways livery. Resplendent in green, blue, and yellow tones, as per the fleet’s introductory look in the 1990s, you can embark on a journey of nostalgia and West Midlands heritage in the waning years of the Hunslet’s “Hyper Networker”, both in the scenarios and across all services in the existing timetable.
