Following the mysterious death of a crewmate, the opium clipper The Witch of the Wake must make a unscheduled stop on their way to Canton. Loaded down with illicit cargo, the unexpected detour weighs heavily on the crew spirits. To make matters worse, not long after picking up a young man in Penang, strange -- almost supernatural -- occurrences begin plaguing the ship; sowing dissent and causing the crew to turn against each other.
Nieve Torres, navigator aboard the vessel, is left fighting for her life to combat these sinister forces... but is this unknown threat the only thing standing in the way of survival?
