The year 2021 marked Amtrak’s 50th Anniversary in serving as America’s national intercity passenger railroad – and in celebration, Amtrak rolled out a fleet of six specially painted locomotives which have delighted travelers and railroad enthusiasts alike. And now, a beautiful selection of Amtrak’s special livery diesels comes to Train Simulator!
Five of Amtrak’s 50th Anniversary commemorative locomotives are General Electric P42DC diesels, the stylish and powerful 4,200-horsepower diesel that has served as the standard-bearer of Amtrak diesel-powered services over the past quarter-century -- and Train Simulator’s popular P42DC is dressed in each of the five striking and historic schemes.
The Amtrak P42DC 50th Anniversary Collector’s Edition for Train Simulator includes each of these distinctive locomotives:
P42DC No. 46 in “Phase V 50th” livery, wearing Amtrak’s present-day standard livery with special commemorative logos.
P42DC No. 100 in a striking, one of a kind “Midnight Blue” livery honoring the commitment and contributions of Amtrak’s employees.
P42DC No. 108 in red and blue “Phase VI” livery, an adaptation of Amtrak’s newest scheme applied to the P42DC.
P42DC No. 161 in “Phase I” livery, Amtrak’s original and now classic standard livery first introduced in 1972.
P42DC No. 160 in the striking bold and unique livery originally first applied to Amtrak’s General Electric Dash 8-32BWH diesels in 1991.
In the Train Simulator Amtrak P42DC 50th Anniversary Collector’s Edition, each of these special commemorative locomotives are superbly and authentically re-created. Along with the P42DC, the pack includes a complete set of Amtrak Superliner equipment and a selection of four realistic and challenging career scenarios hosted on the Train Simulator Miami-West Palm Beach route (route available separately).
In addition to the included career scenarios on the Miami-West Palm Beach route, the Amtrak 50th Anniversary P42DCs will be a perfect and ideal fit for use on a wide variety of popular Train Simulator routes from coast to coast!
