A Cold Comfort

This isn't Amarok's first time on the ice, but it could well be her last.

A young canid, Amarok, sets off on a journey to the frigid Argent Ocean with her childhood friend, Uvie. Together, the two girls volunteer to be errand girls and sled-bearers aboard the Nautilus: a mighty boat helmed by Captain Hawley from Westaria. The expedition is a simple one: to find a passage through the icy wastes of Argentia, in the hopes of establishing a new trade route through the perilous, icy wastes...

But there is a problem. Captain Hawley is little more than a slip of a girl, desperate to follow in her august father's footsteps, and a lack of proper planning soon results in the journey foundering. The Nautilus finds itself trapped in ice so thick it cannot hope to penetrate it, and the crew are forced to disembark in this frozen wasteland and return to civilisation on foot.

The ice soon proves to be unforgiving, however, and illness runs rampant. Under the glaring sun which never sets, Captain Hawley's doomed crew meet their tragic ends one by one during this grim death march. The food supplies are running low and tensions between the crew are running high.

Will Amarok and Uvie return home safely, or will they both succumb to the bitter cold?
