Air War General - WW2 Air Force Wargame

• Turn-based tactical & operational WW2 aircraft war game strategy. Organize your squadrons, wings & air bases, and engage in Bomber Missions, Dogfights, Carpet Bombing, Interceptions, Close Air Support or Reconnaissance. 2D, grid-based.

• Pilot management: assign your aces to air units.

• Choose your side: USAAF (USAF), RAF or Luftwaffe.

• The Air Formation Builder: combine airplane types and create your own air units, including composite, multi-type formations. Choose unit size (Squadron, Reinforced Squadron, Wing ) and formation type (Combat Box, “V” Formation, Echelon…). Equip it with bomber and fighter planes. Move and rotate aircraft within formation, in order to get better attack, defense and fuel efficiency.

• Command a massive fleet of WWII fighters and bombers (max. 100 squadrons or 1000 airplanes per mission) from the P-40 Warhawk, B-17 Flying Fortress, B-25 Mitchell, Spitfire, Hurricane, Bf 109 and P-47 Thunderbolt, to the A-26 Invader, P-51 Mustang, Focke-Wulf Fw-190, B-24 Liberator, P-38 Lightning, Wellington, Lancaster, Arado Ar-234 and the Messerschmitt Me 262 aircraft.

• Air Bases Command: assign Air Base Commanders and technical teams. Arm your Air Bases with AA and Radar units.

• Skill Tactical Combat System: NO dice rolls. Direct and clear execution: easy to learn – hard to master.

• Missions and Campaigns: Lead your forces through the major theaters of Germany, UK, Europe and North Africa.

• Unit Production: produce, modify, mix and deploy squadrons & wings, before or during the missions/campaigns.

• Automated Logistics: formations refuel and rearm together. Ensure your Air Groups have the range they need to strike deep into enemy territory.

Air Formation Builder

• Unlike traditional airplane war games that treat air units as simple tokens, Air War General introduces an Air Formation Builder. No longer are you limited to generic stacks; you are the architect of your own fighting force.

• Mix and match aircraft types into squadrons and wings, rearrange single planes within formation, specialize your roles, and engineer the perfect response to the Axis or Allied threat.

• The AF Templates: modify and save your formation templates in the AF Builder and use them later in your missions for quick deployment.

Movement and Control

• command up to 100 Squadrons/Wings (maximum 1000 single airplanes) and max. 20 Air Bases per mission.

• Short and Long-range moves; Flight Paths.

• Group movement – up to 10 Squadrons/Wings simultaneously.

• Auto-fire on ground/air targets (can be switched to manual control fire)

Units

• Squadrons: Create small, agile tactical units of 8-10 aircraft. Specialize them for interception, ground attack or recon.

• Reinforced Squadrons: bigger tactical formation of 15 aircraft, standard or Composite airframes

• Wings (Groups in USAAF/USAF): Pair fighter escorts with heavy bombers to ensure your payloads reach the target.
  

Formations

• Arrange your aircraft in Combat Boxes to maximize defensive fire.

• Utilize the “V” formations for maximum flexibility in a dogfight.

• Deploy Echelon formations to clear the skies with devastating alpha-strikes.
