Ashikai

Ashikai is a dark fantasy isometric action RPG set in a yokai-cursed feudal Japan.

Inspired by Japanese tales of yokai, we follow Matsuo Shinro, a samurai cut off after an ambush. You will fight through cursed roads, caves, and ruined strongholds to find Lord Kuroda Nagatsugu and make your way back to your family, while precise katana combat and hard choices shape every step of the journey.

The more you refine your timing, the deadlier combat becomes. Perfect reads create brutal punish windows, clean deflects steal momentum by burning through enemy stamina, and every strike starts to feel decisive.

As Matsuo Shinro grows, he learns combat skills and sharpens them through mastery, refining how he attacks, defends, and recovers under pressure. Matsuo Shinro evolves faster with perfect timings and calculated battles. Clear real-time feedback makes every exchange readable during the fights.

Ashikai pits you against both human fighters and oni horrors, each with their own roles, strengths, and combat stats. Enemies do not simply trade blows. They react, parry your attacks, dodge your advances, cover for one another, punish overextension, and press their advantage when they sense weakness.

Every encounter is a tactical problem. You are reading formations, disrupting enemy synergy, and preventing the fight from turning against you. Push too far while underleveled, and stronger foes will punish hesitation, collapse on mistakes, and make every bad decision hurt.

Matsuo Shinro can discover over 20 katanas, from humble common blades to rare unique weapons that can reshape how you cut through enemies.

Each blade rolls with its own power, rarity, and combat traits, so finding a new katana is not just a bigger number. It can push you toward faster strikes, heavier crits, life leech, elemental effects, or a completely different way to survive the next fight.

Factions in Ashikai are more than background names: ronin, citizens, yakuza, Shinsengumi, bandits, and other powers all have their own place in the world.

Matsuo Shinro’s actions can shape his reputation across the world, from who he helps and which quests he takes to who he attacks, protects, or betrays.

Favor one faction long enough and the balance can shift completely, turning old enemies into allies, former allies into threats, or Matsuo Shinro himself into a new kind of outlaw.
