About this game
What this game is, in the developer's words
An atelier in the forest. The Artist’s brush halts before an empty frame, leaving the portrait unfinished. Lost souls arrive with memories of tragedy. Render the cruel truth, or shield their eyes with an eternal lie. A Gothic Mystery granting rest to the dead.
Cruel truth or a peaceful lie—what will you paint amidst unbearable tragedy?
Atelier of Oblivion is a Gothic Mystery Adventure where you listen to the stories of the departed and paint for those who visit in the night.
An Atelier in the Forest—Every night, special guests arrive at this worn atelier in the forest. They are souls lingering with regrets, unable to depart for reasons unknown. “...Have you lost your path?”
Step into the shoes of the Artist to hear their tales and create a final painting to restore their memories. The departed who arrive here have no memory of their own end. Confront their eyes and render the truth, or shield them with an eternal lie. How they embrace death depends solely on your choice. Grant solace to wandering souls.
The Atelier’s Master
In the worn atelier, the master waits for someone for a long time. Each day, a brush is taken up before the easel, yet the portrait remains unfinished. A frame stands empty, for a visage that cannot yet be brought to the canvas.
Gameplay
Gothic Mystery Adventure
Set in a 19th-century-inspired atelier, use dialogue to draw up the departed's lost memories and uncover why they cannot move on. Wander the studio and glimpse the artist's life, or spread out newspapers and maps to trace clues to each visitor's identity.
Paints & Sketchbook
When certain lines are spoken—or when a clue is found—core keywords are saved on the palette as pigments tied to specific colors. At the end of each conversation, choose a few paints at the easel and complete a final gift for the departed. The colors you choose change the finished painting, and the departed sinks into reverie, recalling what was once forgotten. Clues and collected paints are kept in the artist’s sketchbook. Open it anytime with Tab to review and combine clues, gathering the fragments needed to reach an ending. As the story unfolds, the artist’s own past slowly comes into view. Discover the hidden stories of each character—and of the atelier itself.
A Final Tale, Farewell
Choices lead to different endings, but no story is wrong. When an ending is reached, the credits offer a glimpse of what follows for the departed’s family, friends, or lover. Cover the truth and grant eternal rest—or let the departed remain within the memory most dearly missed.
