Behind Gate is an Island

Fortunately, one of the cosmic oddities that caused the occasional opening of the gate to other worlds occurred on an island far enough away from the continental mainland. Volcanic activity between 1700 and 1250 B.C. likely triggered the initial opening of the gate. People have still been attempting to control the number of newcomers so far. The frequency with which the gate is opened varies significantly over time. However, it is thought to have steadily grown from sporadic in the first millennium to reasonably often from the era between the world wars to the present.

Defenders of the Portal

Brahman – The organization from a technologically superior society controls the fallout of such spacetime disruptions. They build autonomous portals in similar locations across space to keep intruders away. A minimal crew maintains portals even though some functioned for long years without an operator.

Earthlings – Since humanity learned the island's mysteries, they have attempted to "give a hand," primarily for profit. Since the middle ages, those in power have exhibited an interest in the island, whether for scientific or military purposes. This fascination can be traced back to that times. Maintain the highest level of confidentiality at all times.

Quinn T. Cooper – You have been sent to the island when Brahman is worried about a swarm of gate-opening waves, which has never happened before. Because there has not been a permanent military garrison on the island since the 1990s for unclear reasons, there is a significant threat of extraterrestrial invaders making their way onto the island. More than that, the advanced gateway security system has been showing signs of dysfunction, according to diagnostics. In recent decades, minor seismic tremors have followed the gate opening every time. This may be a contributing factor to the present problems.
