About this game

What this game is, in the developer's words

Cast into an idyllic wilderness, will you endure? A sandbox city-building game featuring a deceptively cheerful world: build freely —no grids— plus a fully simulated economy, intricate production chains, deep research tree, and growth you can feel. Can your people survive the winter?

Forgotten Vale is peaceful. It will not forgive you.

Survive the Harsh Winter

Winter is always coming. As you build, research, and expand, the cold waits for no one — stockpile enough food and water and your settlement will endure. Study the Vale well, and you may even learn to conquer the cold entirely.

Manage a Complex Economy

Building is truly freeform — no grids! Rotate buildings freely and create natural-looking roads without technical restrictions. All resources must be moved across a complex web of depots — there are no magic central inventories here! Placing your production chains too far apart could mean the difference between life and death for your settlement. Build new houses to grow your population, but beware — if you can’t meet their needs, your people will suffer.

Recover Forgotten Knowledge

The lost Library is why you came here. It holds the secrets of everything your people have lost. Through a sprawling research tree you will unlock new buildings, tools, efficiencies, resources, advanced heating systems, and much more. Master the balance between surviving today and building toward tomorrow.

Expand into New Zones

Ancient gates block the way forward — you must contribute resources and risk the lives of your settlers to open them. Each biome is visually distinct, rich in unique resources, and full of challenges that will reshape how you build.

A Living World

  • Explore beyond the Vale into the wider world map — build outposts and roads, deal with bandits, and increase your influence with foreign powers and traders.

  • Your settlers will age, marry, have children, and eventually pass away.

  • Dynamic weather that commands the entire environment — boosting or ruining crop and tree growth.

  • Challenge and casual play modes available for every skill level and play-style.
