About this game

What this game is, in the developer's words

MECHANIS OBSCURA is an indie psychological escape-room thriller game, blending FMV cutscenes, 2000s horror vibes, and intricate puzzle mechanisms. After unknowingly enrolling in a deep-web trial, you have been abducted into a nightmarish escape room. No choices, only one reality remains...ESCAPE!

Mechanis Obscura is a first-person psychological escape-room thriller game, that fuses the intensity of real escape rooms with the atmosphere of early 2000s horror films. Featuring FMV cutscenes filmed in the heart of the city of  Thessaloniki, intricate puzzle mechanisms, and ARG elements that bleed beyond the screen, the game challenges players to survive a trial they never meant to join.

The Plot

It begins in August 2025. Late at night, while browsing forgotten online forums, you unknowingly enroll in something you should never have touched. Days later, you are abducted by a secret underground organization and forced into a mechanical labyrinth hidden beneath the city. Every door locked, every mechanism ticking, every scene whispering that you were chosen for reasons still obscured.

No Choices

This is not a story of choice. There are no branching paths or alternate fates. Mechanis Obscura is built on one relentless truth: escape or vanish.  Along the way, you’ll uncover fragments of the organization’s presence sometimes hidden deep underground, sometimes standing in plain sight.

The Game in the Game

With its blend of puzzles, live-action sequences, and a suffocating atmosphere, Mechanis Obscura blurs the line between game and reality. What begins as an abduction soon becomes a descent into something larger, where the most obscure machinery might be the human mind itself.
