About this game

What this game is, in the developer's words

London, 1889. Step into the shoes of a young detective in this hand-drawn, point-and-click mystery. Explore the dark halls of Seraphim House, illuminate the shadows, and interrogate suspects to solve a complex locked-room murder. Will you accuse the right person?

London, November 1889. A freezing autumn night blankets a city on the brink of social revolt during the turbulent elections. Deep within the elegant, high-society walls of Seraphim House, an anonymous dead body is found. The door to his private study is locked firmly from the inside.

You are a young inspector freshly arrived at Scotland Yard from the countryside. Being the only detective left at the station tonight, the grim duty falls to you. Explore the haunting depths of the estate, brave the overgrown shadows of the adjacent Botanical Garden, and uncover a truth that everyone else wants buried.

FEATURES

  • A living interactive graphic novel: Step into a striking, monochrome world entirely hand-drawn on physical paper using ink and brush. MurderAt features the unique calligraphic and textured art style of creative director Patrick Garbit, transforming every frame into a piece of dark, tactile art.

  • Investigation & deduction: Inspired by the observation of Return of the Obra Dinn and the point-and-click pacing of Rusty Lake, MurderAt leaves the mystery entirely in your hands. There are no intrusive tutorials or highlighted clues. You must examine documents, observe crime scenes, and connect the dots yourself.

  • Bring light to the case: In a mansion swallowed by darkness, light is your ultimate tool. Scrounge for matches, light candles, and move lamps to reveal hidden clues. But beware—the dark hides secrets that some would kill to protect.

  • A web of 19th-Century conspiracy: Dig through a dense narrative of familial trauma, political blackmail, and hidden identities. Interrogate a cast of deeply layered suspects—from ruthless industrialists to loyal confidants—using an organic, topic-based notebook system.

  • Two ways to investigate:

    • Sergeant Mode (Normal): Your in-game journal automatically logs discovered facts and maps out explored areas.

    • Detective Mode (Hard): The in-game journal is completely disabled. You must grab a real-life pen and paper at your desk to crack the case.

  • The weight of justice: Every suspect has an ending. MurderAt leaves the final verdict to your moral compass, forcing you to answer a haunting question: is solving a crime truly the same as rendering justice?
