About this game

What this game is, in the developer's words

Satiric cartoony roguelite deckbuilder inspired by Blackjack rules. Play strategically cards depicting true events of the 2024 olympics. Collect boosters and trigger hilarious combos. Complete challenges while you burn through your deck, keeping your eyes on the prize: achieving world-class failure.

Relive your best worst moments from the organization and running of the Paris Olympic Games by playing Paris Games Fail!, a hilarious cartoonish roguelite deckbuilder with a fast pace, inspired by the rules of Blackjack.

Build your strategy by judiciously selecting from the cards in your draw those which represent the most colossal blunders, the most crazy decisions and the most spectacular failures of the organizers, which have made these games the most controversial of the Olympic Games since 1936.

Enjoy sophisticated combos and powerful boosts that will allow you to exasperate your political opponents and the general public, to torment Parisians and spectators alike, to demonstrate the little attention you pay to athletes and even to infuriate international sports federations, all while putting public finances on the verge of bankruptcy.

Burn the cards in your shoe while maintaining the highest possible level of public outrage and media attention, always on the brink of disaster, in order to meet the impossible challenge that awaits you: to do even worse.
But be careful, you must remain subtle enough to avoid your actions provoking consequences such as powers that be would opt for replacing you by someone less incompetent and controversial.

With each major success, you will have the opportunity to move closer to your ultimate goal: to build the most devastating deck possible in order to inscribe your name in the pantheon of the most bitter failures of all time.
You might even reach a level where you might consider the possibility of confronting other players who might prove just as spectacularly inept as you.

A game inspired by Blackjack rules...

You start the game with a deck of action cards in hand. At each turn, you determine whether or not you want to draw additional cards. Drawing additional cards increases your score, and grants your purchase points which you can convert into various boosters or special powers, which in turn increases further your score or grants you immunity to bust. The downside is that each card played increases your chances to go bust, ending immediately the game and reverting your score to zero.

...and infused with roguelite elements...

You win a round of the game by either burning through your entire deck of action cards (in which case you gain an additional bonus), or by deciding to stop drawing additional cards while having reached a minimum effects level.
During each round, you get the opportunity to unlock and complete challenges, which are either predetermined or randomly determined, depending upon the round you are in and the progress you have made so far.
Completing challenges is allowing you to increase your score, to receive additional action cards for the next round and to unlock new powers and boosters which will become active during the next round.

...so that each and every round becomes more challenging....

Because the number of cards in your deck increases round after round, burning through the whole deck becomes increasingly difficult, and mitigating the consequences of your actions require further strategic planning, under the form of judicious selection of the powers and boosters you choose to acquire.
As you progress through the rounds, the sequence in which you play the cards, and which cards you choose to retain or discard when constituting your deck for the next round will become paramount, as these choices will weigh on your ability to trigger combos, hence to receive additional bonuses.

...and every game you play is unique

The conjunction of randomness in the hands you are dealt with, a vast choice of powers and boosters you can use in order to mitigate the side effects of the cards you play, and the variety of the tactics you can use to form powerful and game changing card combinations allows to provide a unique experience with each and every game you play.
