About this game

What this game is, in the developer's words

A political sim RPG space opera with 4X elements, inspired by Suzerain and Stellaris. Become the first president of a fallen empire, choose any ideology, and expand into the stars. Your decisions shape the nation and the galaxy. Follow any ideology, be the leader you want in Pax Astra!

Every ideology. Every method. One galaxy that remembers everything you do.

The war is over. The hard part starts now.

Altara was an empire built on conquest. Now it is a democracy built on rubble — and you are its first elected President. What you build from here, and how you build it, belongs entirely to you.

Pax Astra is a political RPG that puts you inside the machine of power — Negotiating with rival factions, signing or vetoing legislation, reading intelligence reports, issuing edicts that reshape society from the ground up. Every decision compounds. Ministers remember betrayals. Elections reflect your record. Foreign powers react to your moves. You will negotiate, legislate, scheme, and occasionally lie your way through a volatile political landscape. The state bends toward whatever ideology you feed it — or it breaks trying.

But Pax Astra does not stop at the office door.

Beyond Altara's borders lies the galaxy. Colonize distant planets, build industries, control trade networks, fund scientific expeditions, and push into unknown space. What begins as domestic politics escalates into something stranger and larger — negotiations with hiveminds, forbidden science, threats from outside the known galaxy, and paths that no political theory prepared you for.

What you can do in Pax Astra:

  • Govern without limits — liberal democrat, communist, fascist, libertarian, theocrat, or something entirely your own. No ideology is locked. No path is correct.

  • Shape the state itself — nationalize industries, expand labor rights, consolidate executive power, build a cult of personality, orchestrate a coup. Altara can become many things. Not all of them were intended.

  • Command the stars — colonize planets, build trade networks, fund expeditions into unknown space, and develop an interdimensional exploration program.

  • Face what lies beyond — negotiate with hiveminds, weaponize forbidden science, build a GODMACHINE, and confront threats from outside the known galaxy.

  • Live with consequences — elections reflect your record, alliances fracture, civil unrest builds, and the structure of the state itself shifts based on your choices. Altara ends differently every time.

Grounded in real political history. Open to the cosmic.

Altara begins where post-war Germany and Japan did — a radicalized society forced into a fragile, unfamiliar democracy. The political systems are real. The pressures are recognizable. But the universe around Altara opens into something far stranger, drawing on the tone of Dune, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, and Star Wars as much as political theory.

Inspired by Suzerain, Stellaris, and The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante.

Built by one developer. Designed for players who want their choices to mean something.
