Project Nightmare
Good game, but it sits 100% of the way from its all-time low to full price. It drops harder in seasonal sales. Patience pays.

About this game
What this game is, in the developer's words
Powered by a custom-built engine replicating lost media CRT aesthetics, PROJECT NIGHTMARE is a dual-mode survival horror endurance test. Choose your fate: the high-octane slaughter of Classic Mode or the claustrophobic dread of Atmosphere Mode.
About This Game
Born out of a love for wave based rouge like games PROJECT NIGHTMARE is a dual-mode survival horror experience wrapped in a retro-industrial aesthetic. Boot up the system and choose your fate: the high-octane, arcade-style slaughter of Classic Mode, or the claustrophobic, immersive dread of the FPS, Atmosphere Mode.
Powered by a custom-built engine designed to replicate the feel of lost media and CRT displays, Project Nightmare isn't just a game—it's an endurance test.
TWO MODES. ONE GOAL: SURVIVAL.
MODE 1: CLASSIC (2D)
The ultimate top-down tactical survival experience. In Classic Mode, visibility is your enemy and firepower is your only friend.
Infinite Arsenal: Scavenge for weapons with a deep rarity system. Find Rusty pistols, Tactical SMGs, or the devastating "DOOMSDAY" tier heavy weaponry.
Ballistic Chaos: Utilise a massive array of hardware including Mini guns, Plasma Rifles, Lasers, and Rocket Launchers.
RPG Progression: Earn XP from every kill. Level up to increase your Vitality and max out your stats as you face Wave 1 to infinity.
The Horde: Face off against distinct enemy types including acid-spitting Zombies, high-speed Screaming ghosts, and tank-like Giants.
In a throwback call to the game IK+ on the Amiga every level you gain your t-shirt will change colour.
No Global Cloud Saves: Nothing is saved, take care and ensure you SURVIVE!
MODE 2: ATMOSPHERE (3D FPS)
Switch perspectives and drop into the fog. Atmosphere Mode transforms the game into a First-Person Survival Horror where audio cues and line-of-sight are matters of life and death.
Psychological Horror: Manage your sanity. As your health drops, the "Paranoia System" kicks in—hear whispers, feel your heartbeat rise, and witness the world distort around you.
The Weeping Ghosts: Be careful where you look. In 3D mode, Ghosts freeze when observed but move at lightning speed when you blink or look away.
Dynamic Environment: Perpetual nights broken up by the random Red Moon Rising events, you are the night, take charge of it.
Visceral Combat: Experience a reactive gore system where every shot counts. Trigger chain reactions by detonating "Volatile" enemies.
You are being stalked: Every 5 levels you will encounter the “Faceless One” as he stalks you, find him before he finds you.
Global Leaderboards: Once you have died your score, wave and SteamID are uploaded to our leaderboard, available here -> and also on the game launcher on start.
No Global Cloud Saves: Nothing is saved, take care and ensure you SURVIVE!
KEY FEATURES
Retro-Tech Aesthetic: Immerse yourself in a UI designed with CRT scan lines, digital noise, and a haunting "boot sequence" interface.

Steam Integration: Fully integrated with Steam Achievements. Hunt for the "Sniper Elite" badge, survive the "Touch of Death," or become a "Weapon Hoarder."
