Press Kit:
Rise of the Gorecats is a story-driven detective shooter for players who love mystery, mayhem and mutant cats. We’re developing a playable demo so you can dive in early, share feedback, and help shape the future of the game. If you like what you see, Wishlist us to boost visibility and support our journey toward full release. Full details below:
Mitch Birman’s a burnt-out homicide vet. Shellshocked, half-pickled and haunted by 20 years on the Catsburg PD. But when a brutal murder leads him into the underbelly of a designer-drug-fueled crimewave, he’s forced to chase down a gang of savage critters tearing through the city.
The game is a pixelated love letter to ‘80s pulp horror, film noir and retro arcade games. Throw in punk-rock bikers, neo-noir vigilante street gangs, a corrupt police force and a sinister pathogen that may or may not have leaked from a mysterious lab and you have Rise of the Gorecats.
Rise of the Gorecats will expand into a complete story-driven experience where you play as Detective Mitch Birman, a grizzled investigator on the trail of a mysterious breed of bloodthirsty critters invading downtown Catsburg.
In the full game, players will:
- Lock & load with a brutal arsenal—from the trusty revolver to the supercharged toxic railgun.
- Crack the case by solving clues, grilling suspects, and peeling back the mysterious outbreak.
- Go undercover, brawl through rival gangs, raid toxic hideouts & expose a trail of corruption.
- Track the Gorecats across hostile city zones, each with unique hazards & twisted lore.
- Follow the toxic trail from the backstreet slums of Catsburg to a secret gov science lab.
From the twisted minds of StudioNX—Emmy-winning creators of the animated comic epic Niko & the Sword of Light, arcade cult hit The Videokid and storytellers behind the BAFTA-winning Endling: Extinction is Forever.
Every pixel of this neo noir nightmare is hand-forged by legendary artist/animator Wacko & the game’s pulsing chiptune-metal soundtrack, crafted by musician and sound designer Pavle Kircanski.
