Sombre
Good game, but it sits 100% of the way from its all-time low to full price. It drops harder in seasonal sales. Patience pays.

About this game
What this game is, in the developer's words
Dare to enter SOMBRE, a narrative escape game where you must explore a very ancient manor built upon Roman ruins. There, you will solve puzzles rooted in forgotten rituals and unravel the secrets of a place that defies reason—if you hope to escape.
You find yourself in a nocturnal garden, bathed in pale moonlight and a troubling silence. Before you stands a dwelling with blurred outlines, as if suspended between two eras. The doors creak, the walls are adorned with strange paintings. You cross the threshold… and the trap snaps shut.
SOMBRE is a narrative escape experience where every step draws you deeper into the bowels of a place that should not exist. Here, the laws of reason crumble, corridors warp, and objects seem to watch you. To escape, you must decipher the unspeakable: solve puzzles rooted in forgotten rituals, manipulate mechanisms rusted by time, and confront a presence that guides you as much as it holds you back.
Inspired by Lovecraftian horror, Roman ruins, and the suffocating weight of history, SOMBRE offers neither weapons nor explanations. Only five levels, five fragments of a mystery that unfolds as your mind wavers. The answers lie hidden in the flaking frescoes, the broken mechanisms, and the echoes of a past that refuses to die.
What awaits you:
A sensory immersion: a hypnotic soundtrack, enchanting light play, and tension that rises with every door you pass.
Organic puzzles: no tutorials, only clues scattered in an environment that breathes secrecy.
Environmental storytelling: the story is written in the traces left by others, in the symbols carved into stone, in the walls that bleed memories.
An enchanting atmosphere, halfway between a gothic nightmare and a cosmic revelation.
SOMBRE is not a game. It is a descent—into the depths of a house that is no longer quite a house, and into the recesses of your own perception.
