What this game is, in the developer's words
Souptown Matty is a story-based mystery-solving dog simulator. Around the time when spirits linger, an unexpected visitor comes and steals your owner's beloved necklace. It's time to take action on your own and start investigating.
MATTY:
You play as Matty, the French bulldog, who lives in a place called Soup Town in Tartu, Estonia.
You have to find the stolen necklace of your owner, Mari. On the adventure, you'll meet curious characters from the wilderness and the streets.
Discover the secrets of Soup Town, Toome Hill and Tartu.
SOUPTOWN:
"SUPILINN, OR SOUP TOWN OF Tartu, is one of the last historic 19th-century slums surviving in Europe. The neighborhood sprang up around a beer brewery on the bank of the Emajõgi River. The low-lying riverbank was a swamp, flooded each year by the river. Cheap land attracted large masses of poor brewery workers who built a maze of wooden houses, muddy streets, and small gardens.
The names of the streets, such as Kartuli (Potato), Herne (Pea), Oa (Bean), Marja (Berry), and Meloni (Melon), gave the name of Supilinn (Soup Town) to the district." Atlas Obscura
