About this game
What this game is, in the developer's words
A first-person walking simulator focused on atmosphere and introspection, where players explore surreal spaces, discover memories, and move at their own pace through a calm, dreamlike experience.
The Shattered Mind of Lucas Hayes is a game about finding peace.
I have always found these liminal pool spaces to be nostalgic and comforting. The gentle lapping of the water against tile. The sound of footsteps splashing and the light filtering into outdoor spaces through curved archways. This game aims to help Lucas, and the player, find peace in an otherwise crazy world we all live and breath in.
You will not be chased by monsters, and nothing is peeking around the corner to get you. You are alone, very alone. You will search for memories to fall deeper into the dream, sometimes encountering puzzles where you must find these memories and place them where they need to go to proceed. Your sense of direction is tested slightly, but the path forward is generally clear.
There are multiple levels to play through, and each offers between 10 and 30 minutes of exploration. As of now, there is around two hours of game play planned for the full release, with more areas still being added. There is no HUD and no conventional story line to follow. During your exploration, you catch glimpses of the main character’s past and the mental struggles he is experiencing. The only goal is to remain where you are and enjoy the atmosphere, or continue deeper into the dream.
