Good game, but it sits 100% of the way from its all-time low to full price. It drops harder in seasonal sales. Patience pays.

About this game

What this game is, in the developer's words

Trailmarks is a turn-based trivia strategy game where you circumnavigate the planet as a broke fact-checker. Chart your own adventurous route across 1,200 real-world cities, answer 120,000+ questions, trade souvenirs, and prove your expertise to unlock new countries.

Welcome to Trailmarks, where you've just been hired as a fact-checker for a travel guide company. Expect nothing, except being dropped off in a new city with no money. Your only way forward is your knowledge: answer trivia to scrape together enough for a bus to the next city, then the next, then somehow figure out how to cross the Pacific Ocean.  Along the way, Martha from HQ expects you to do a few missions. Drop off an interesting USB-drive in Moscow, fact-check a missile base, maybe return some stolen artifacts. All a part of the journey.

Trailmarks is fully turn-based, so there's no clock pushing your decisions. Every city offers its own range of topics, and each one consists of ten True/False questions written specifically for that location. You can guess your way through a topic, but the payouts that actually fund your trip come from real knowledge. Every dollar you earn is contested: spend it on the next leg of transit, sink it into regional trade goods, or risk it on a lucky draw for a shot at something bigger. Answer well enough and your standing grows with the ten handlers who control the map, and that standing is what eventually earns you the visas to unlock the rest of the world.Part trivia game, part travel adventure, and the globe is your game board.

What To Expect

Navigate an interactive 3D globe featuring 1,200 cities across every continent. Travel by air, boat, bus, or train, each mode offering different costs and route options. Finding the optimal path requires strategic thinking: sometimes a series of bus rides proves cheaper than a direct flight, while coastal boat routes might open unexpected opportunities and boost your mood.

Your fact-checking work takes the form of 120,000+ trivia questions spanning everything from Los Angeles taco truck culture to Japanese eSports leagues, from volcanic research in Cameroon to the architecture of Soviet-era metro stations. Answer correctly to earn money and maintain your spirits. Answer poorly and watch both your wallet and mood decline.

The Work-Life Balance

Travel too hard and your mood tanks. Fail too many quizzes and it tanks faster. When it bottoms out, you're stuck, forced to crack open the old Trailmarks guidebook for a pick-me-up. This triggers random events that might save you or bring you deeper into trouble. Tea with a local pearl fisherman. Tricked at the market. Invited to a wedding. A stolen phone. Money comes from quizzes and from trading: buy regional specialties in one city, sell them where they're valued. Or consume them yourself for a mood boost. But cargo space is limited to three items, so every slot is a decision. And through all of it, your vacation days are ticking down and the planet still needs circumnavigating.

Unlocking the World

Most countries start locked, and the people who can get you in are your ten handlers: a network of eccentric contacts ranging from Professor Okafor (history, language, science) to Chef Isabella (everything edible) to DARWIN-7, an AI that only cares about the natural world. Prove yourself through their quizzes and your standing with each handler grows. That standing is your visa. Some countries only need one handler's approval. Others demand high standing with several, and the hardest destinations won't open until you've impressed the right combination. Do you build deep trust with a few handlers to crack specific regions? Or spread yourself across the network and keep your options open?

So Many Journeys

The globe is the same every time, but how you cross it isn't. The Travel Writer needs stories from the world's most volatile hotspots. The Influencer is chasing content across bucket-list destinations. The Secret Agent is running a quieter operation entirely. The Shopper lives and dies by the trading economy. And the Young Adventurer? They're on a quest that spans the Pacific. Each type starts in a different home city, pursues different objectives, and leans on different handlers, so the route that saved one playthrough might doom another. And every one of them still has to do the job: circumnavigate the planet and make it home before vacation time runs out. With 120,000+ quiz questions across diverse categories, even familiar cities surface fresh material.
