About this game

What this game is, in the developer's words

High-speed 2.5D vertical shooter featuring intense bullet-hell action, enemy swarms, powerful boss fights, item-based enhancements, and seven challenging stages

Zerion-X9

Zerion-X9 is a 2.5D vertical bullet-hell shooter where you join Operation Zerion-X9—the final mission to reclaim Earth’s lost territories from the invading Starfarers.

Once welcomed as peaceful visitors from the stars, the Starfarers betrayed humanity and seized the Shared Coexistence Zones across the planet.
As the last remaining fighter pilot, you must take back every occupied region.

Gameplay

Zerion-X9 blends classic arcade-style controls with modern 3D visuals and effects to deliver a fast, intense vertical-scrolling shoot ’em up.
The camera stays locked from above, preserving the familiar old-school feel while enhancing immersion with fully 3D environments and dynamic effects.

Main Mode: 7 Fully-Themed Stages

Battle through seven unique battlefields, including:

  • Forest outposts on the front line

  • Ruined colonies

  • Submerged temple ruins

  • Orbital fortresses that stretch into space

Enemy formations, bullet patterns, and giant bosses change dramatically in every stage, keeping the action tense from start to finish.

Power-Up System

Collect items during battle to enhance your fighter:

  • Shot upgrades

  • Homing missiles

  • Shield recovery

  • Bombs (a wide-area attack that clears nearby enemies and bullets)

Each battle increases your firepower and survivability, giving the game a satisfying sense of growth.

2.5D Visual Presentation

The game scrolls vertically while rendering enemies, environments, and effects with 3D models—bringing a unique mix of classic gameplay and modern depth.

Varied Enemy Formations & Massive Boss Battles

Encounter:

  • Fast-charging interceptors

  • Heavy artillery units with wide-ranged barrages

  • Armored war machines

Every stage culminates in a giant boss equipped with complex bullet patterns and behavior routines.

In Stages 6 and 7, powerful enemies attack in rapid succession—turning the endgame into a near boss rush.

Difficulty Progression

The challenge escalates steadily across the campaign:

  • Stage 1: Easy

  • Stage 2–3: Normal

  • Stage 4: Hard

  • Stage 5: Very Hard

  • Stage 6: Super Hard

  • Stage 7: Extra Hard

Key Features

Story

April, 206X.
A colossal starship appeared in the sky—so enormous that ignoring it was impossible. Humanity froze in fear.

One week later, the ship landed quietly.

Those who emerged called themselves Starfarers—beings who walked among the stars.
They looked remarkably human, except for one difference: a horn upon their forehead.

Despite possessing technology far beyond humanity, they came not as conquerors, but as emissaries.
They understood every human language and spoke words of peace.

Humanity welcomed them.
Together, the two species signed the Peace Accord, beginning an era of coexistence.

The Starfarers shared advanced technologies freely.
Energy systems were revolutionized.
The environment healed.
Diseases once incurable were wiped away.

Human civilization advanced rapidly.
As part of the new security alliance, the Starfarers were entrusted with the governance of long-disputed territories.

These former battlegrounds became Shared Coexistence Zones—symbols of hope.

But then…

In 2090, the peace collapsed.

Without warning, Starfarer armies appeared across every Coexistence Zone.
Humanity was overwhelmed in an instant.

Under the very name of “coexistence,” the Starfarers seized the land—
and the once-shared territories became former human domains under alien occupation.

You are the last fighter pilot entrusted with humanity’s final mission:

Reclaim every lost zone.

Operation Code: Zerion-X9.
The final counterattack begins now.
